In 2011, I was lucky enough to travel to Europe for a semester abroad. I spent three months in Florence, Italy, and from there traveled to a number of cities in Italy and Europe. It was an amazing experience and an excellent lesson in self-reliance, and I wish everyone the opportunity to travel at least once in their life. I brought several cameras, but the photos I took with my dad’s old 35mm Canon captured the spirit of my journey much more beautifully than any of my digital snaps.

““For if every true love affair can feel like a journey to a foreign country, where you can’t quite speak the language, and you don’t know where you’re going, and you’re pulled ever deeper into the inviting darkness, every trip to a foreign country can be a love affair, where you’re left puzzling over who you are and whom you’ve fallen in love with……all good trips are, like love, about being carried out of yourself and deposited in the midst of terror and wonder.”
